Travel & Nyam: White Horse Inn

As Covid continues to plague us, Christmas dinners out took a whole new meaning this year. To ensure we were still observing protocols, I joined my in-laws and extended family for a simply splendid dinner on a snowy Michigan night in an igloo at the White Horse Inn.

Nestled in quaint Metamora, the inn was originally established in1850 and has served as a general store, an inn and working stagecoach stop and currently a magical restaurant with a menu to satisfy even a picky eater's appetite.

When we visited a few days after Christmas, the restaurant oozed holiday charm and was able to host socially distanced indoors and in their well appointed outdoor igloos.

Our igloo comfortably sat my extended family of eight and came complete with bluetooth speakers and a heaters to ensure we remained toasty even on a cold winter's night.

Dinner was a festive affair as we dined on a variety of appetizers and entrees from their extensive menu, I would definitely recommend the White Horse mac and cheese, the ribeye and the simply scrumptious Dark Horse hot fudge brownie.

The service was impeccable, however, if you are prone to extended dinners, the igloos can only be booked for two hour blocks.

I can't recommend this restaurant enough if you are ever in Michigan for the winter season.
