Lynchburg has a host of wonderful locations for those interested in elevating their Instagram or social media feeds.
Here are a few of my favorite spots for photography in the city:
Amazement Square: I know its a kids museum but it also includes lots of nooks and crannies for a mini adult photoshoot. While you may not be able to go without a child present during regular museum hours. Check out their Museum After Dark offerings to get a glimpse at one of the coolest museums in town.
The Pocket Park: Has been added to the downtown Lynchburg landscape on Church St. just in time for summer 2019, this vibrant pocket park is the perfect location for you to relax and hit your angles.
Angel Wings at Benny's Scarpetta's : Tap into your angelic side on Main Street.
The Love Signs: there are several LOVE signs scattered around the city, however, my favorites have to be the ones at the University of Lynchburg and at the beginning of the Percival Island Natural Area.
Old City Cemetery: This museum and local treasure is filled with lots of nooks and crannies that would be perfect for photos, not to mention their spectacular spring/summer antique rose festival. Open from dawn to dusk, I say come around 5:30, bring your tripod, explore and shoot away.
Mrs Joys: If you're downtown, definitely go satisfy your sweet tooth here but also enjoy the decor. Their photo wall is the perfect Instagram backdrop.
Et Martem: This has to be the cutest bookstore in the city with cozy reading nooks, an array of wines and beer as well as a unique card and gift selection. The books make the perfect backdrop for Insta-readers.
Mama Crockett's Cider Donuts: Located on 5th Street, go for the photos, stay for their amazing donuts. Take advantage of their big mural walls on the sides of this building.
The many cobblestone streets around town can all add some dimension to your photos, my favorites are Commerce Street, Old City Cemetery and in the Diamond Hill historic neighbourhood.
This list is by no means exhaustive, Lynchburg is budding with beautiful hiking trails, colonial homes, a bustling downtown and amazing mural art that would all make beautiful backdrops for your instagram feed.
