Life in the Burg: Ankida Ridge Winery

I have been trying to get out to Ankida Ridge Winery for months on the recommendation of a coworker. However, weather unpredictability in Virginia and their exclusive opening hours had me constrained. But, now that summer holidays are in full swing, I made it there over Memorial Day weekend and the winery did not disappoint.

Nestled high in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Amherst county and about a 40 minute drive outside of Lynchburg, Ankida Ridge Winery is a wine lover's dream Sunday afternoon getaway. With stunning views, a bevy of sheep, a local small-batch tasting menu and superb service, Ankida Ridge is the perfect oasis. The air permeates with tranquility.

The winery offers two tasting menus, a standard menu at $10 and an ultimate tasting menu that includes an additional two wines for $15. Patrons also have the options to purchase wine by the glass or by the bottle and a cheese tray at $20.

I tried the ultimate tasting menu and found the wines refreshing and perfect for a whimsical summer. While I am generally partial to whites, I found myself enthralled with Ankida's Pinot Noir 2016 and their Rockgarden Vin Doux.

If you're looking to a perfect wine-down afternoon, do check out Ankida Ridge, it will not disappoint.

Happy Wine Tasting!

P.S. The winery is pet friendly.
