Dr. Ghislaine Lewis is a Caribbean-born, USA-based journalist, academic and media consultant. Her passion for travel and search for the perfect sentence has enabled her to mold her career into a lifestyle choice.
Dr. Lewis is an associate professor of Communication Studies and former co-chair of Africana Studies at the University of Lynchburg. She serves as the advisor for both the university’s campus newspaper, The Critograph and the African Caribbean Union (ACU). She teaches classes in Communication Studies, Africana Studies and in the Masters of Nonprofit Leadership program.
Dr. Lewis is a trainer on the University of Lynchburg’s National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) team. She serves on several campus-wide committees, including the Leadership Taskforce, the Inclusive Excellence Council, and as chair of the Faculty Development Committee for the 2022-2023 academic year.
She is also the first executive director of the Pierce Street Gateway, and she is a founding member of the Pierce Street Community Garden. Dr. Lewis has served as president of the Central Virginia Academy for Nonprofit Excellence (CVANE), is on the board for the Link Project and on the exhibition committee for the Legacy Museum of African American History.
Dr. Lewis’ love of travel and passion for the classroom have taken her on adventures around the globe. Her academic work and experiences have provided valuable insight into the linkages between new media, global politics and policy.
